Australia boasts some awesome surfing beaches, and every veteran surfer has his or her favourites. While even those who don't participitate in the sport know of famous destinations such as Byron Bay, Noosa, Margaret River and Bell's Beach, there are dozens of others that are local secrets.

In your opinion, what is Australia's best surfing beach? Do you know any secret spots that local surfers rave about?

This is possibly Margaret River or Yallingup -the beaches around that area seem to be used in competititons so would assume they are the best for surfing.

There are heaps of beautiful beaches, but many are not good for surfing.

The best I have found I NSW is a place called Pipeline in Jervis Bay. It has three shelf breaks and it very similar to Pipeline in Hawaii.

There are some great spots around Australia, however the one i know the best is the area betweeen scarborough and hillarys in Perth.
Newcastle Beach and those at Byron Bay in NSW are awesome, as are the beautiful beaches along Queensland's Sunshine Coast.
