Some think of the bedroom as a sanctuary where we can lock ourselves away from the world and relax.

What is the best way to make a bedroom cozy?

A really nice question Sarah, especially with winter coming up :) A cozy bed with winter duvets - ideally a double bed at least - yum :)
To make a bedroom cosy, it needs to be not too large, have curtains/blinds so that you can see out slightly and no one can see in (a partial block out blind perhaps), and lights fitted to the side of the bed that could be dimmed.

Team that with a pretty doona cover or blanket, with lots of various sized cushions on the bed, and voila -you have a cosy room.

Add some soft music to make it more cosy and enhancing and, of course, if it is winter, the heating must be on!

Just fill it with all the things I love, and put them on display. Teddy Bears in particular.
Double bed, dim lighting, fluffy pillows and duvet, muted relaxing colours or florals for your sheets, and your favourite aromatherapy scent.
Lamps.
Soft lighting is the key.

A 'dooner' that has volume.
With cushions,and nice long curtains.

Use only two to three main colours, and no Black!
apart from what everyone else has said, maybe the use of candles for special occasions?!
Good lighting, cosy bed sheets etc.
Soft furnishings such as cushions and quilts in nice warm colours such as pinks, orange, brown and yellow, always provide a warm cosy ambiance. If it suits your home decor, handmade items like soft quilts made from bright-coloured folksy prints and crocheted doilies also give a lovely homey feel to bedrooms. .
