Hatchbacks have always been my favourite - you can carry almost anything in them, especially if you get a model which has fold down seats. I once carried a double bed frame in my hatch back and the mattress on the roof racks.
36 years really is impressive. The car my dad bought when he got married lasted over twenty years. We reluctantly got rid of it a few years ago because we inherited my grandpa's car, and we did not need two. It was also costing a bit in repairs. I think what mainly did it in is the fact that it was leaded, which they stopped doing, so we had to get an additive for it with the unleaded.
