What would your ideal afternoon tea be like? What kinds of sandwiches, cakes, and drinks would there be, and what would the venue be like?

Cucumber sandwiches arranged on one layer of a three tiered tray, delicious sweets on the other two tiers and tea for drinking at a really swish venue with gorgeous views.
Well a little cafe in a lovely park, that has shade.

A three tired cake stand, 2 of my best friends....Cucumber Sandwiches no crusts, blue vein cheese(the creamy kind).Grapes, and salmon, and little Petit-fours.
To drink, a glass of Apple juice..........Heaven!
I love any High Tea, and find that the mixture of elegant sandwiches and small savoury pastries, together with the small scones, and sweet mini cakes, are ideal.

It is made more appetizing by the way it is served on 3 tiers.

For me the ideal afternoon tea would be:

6 Wholemeal finger sandwiches with two each of - tuna mayo & sweetcorn, egg mayo & cress, and turkey with cranberry & brie.

2 buttermilk cherry scones with strawberry jam and clotted cream.

3 petit fours - chocolate shortbread, pecan pie, gingerbread cake.

I don't like tea, so I would like elderflower cordial as my drink.

I would like it in a traditional Victorian tearoom, but one that had a casual atmosphere.

High tea :)
Very gracious, in beautiful surroundings!

Took Tiffin at 'The Raffles' Hotel in Singapore.

Morning Tea at 'The Peninsula' Hotel in Hong Kong.

Just love all the dainty sandwiches WITHOUT crusts.....Cucumber, Smoked Salmon & Cream Cheese, Ham with HE Mustard.
As I drink Tea at home, I have Coffee out.

There're several city Hotels & even S/C Cafes, who do 'High Tea', or just Ribbon Sandwiches. Way to go!
