Grandad building a sandcastle

Would you use a square mouthed shovel, a bucket, a spade, a plastic rake, a piece of timber or your hands to build a sandcastle?

The grandad in the photo took along a square mouthed shovel to build it for his grandson. It didn't take him long to build it.

Even though it takes longer to build one for our grandsons (twins) I use my hands and a bucket.

I don't build sand castles anymore, but when I was a child I used a small round bucked and square spade.
A child's plastic bucket and my hands. Nothing else is required. Mould it and shape it. Scrape a moat around it and fill it with water. Decorate if with sea shells or pebbles. Perhaps some little sticks for a bridge over the moat. It's been a long time since I was a kid but I still love these.
I wonder what they use in those sand modelling competitions?
Definitely a plastic bucket. You can use it to shape the towers and to collect water for a moat. That is what I always used to use.
